Letter From The Editor

Dear Readers,

Welcome back to our second installment of Topic of the Quarter! Two years ago, for February 2020’s Topic of the Month, we took a more “big picture” approach to highlighting the ways in which behavioral health stigma impacted families. Something that stood out to me from those articles were the conversations being had around pregnancy and substance use.

For the larger Anti-Stigma Project, I had been doing some unrelated research on stigma surrounding Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and I came across even more interesting articles, as well as a lack of information outside of research journals, and especially from a peer perspective. I knew right away that I wanted to cover this in more depth for Topic of the Quarter, and I already had some exciting people I knew I wanted to collaborate with.

We are proud to be sharing more original content and personal stories from those most directly impacted by behavioral health stigma in this new format. Over the next couple months we will be dropping interviews in video and print, new articles and statistics from across the web, and relevant resources to help start a much-needed conversation around maternal rights in substance use services. First, check out our two articles shared back in 2020 here and here.

Stay tuned!

Nina
